Static caravan maintenance

Your static caravan will benefit from regular maintenance. Whether you have a vintage model or a brand new unit, a regular maintenance schedule is necessary. We have put together some basic tips to keep your static home in great condition.

Caravan Insurance

Make sure that you have proper insurance in place. Check your insurance policy wording carefully to ensure that you are covered for any accidents or other claims that you may need to make.

Gas and Electric Maintenance

Boiler maintenance and gas and electric safety checks should be done annually by a fully qualified and registered engineer. This is important for your insurance and your safety.

Condensation, Mould and Rust

Keep a constant look out for rust, mould and condensation rust in all areas of your caravan, including any accessories and fittings attached to the caravan.

External Maintenance

Use a power wash or just a bucket of detergent water and a cloth to clean the outside of your caravan make sure you dry the vehicle after washing. This prevents mould and rust damage

Windows and Frames

Clean windows inside and out with a normal window cleaning spray and a soft cloth. Make sure you dry the frames if they get wet.

Gutters

Regularly clear any leaves or debris so water can easily drain away. This is a common cause of dampness in caravans.

Window Latches and Doors

A static caravan may warp over time, check that all seals are tight and the latches and locks are in top working order.

Steps, Awnings and Accessories

Accessories can be expensive, keep your static caravan steps and awnings safely stored in a secure, dry place inside the caravan. This prevents theft and helps keep your items dry and rot or rust free
